The Hypocrisy of Critics and Fans
A recurring theme in Wright’s commentary is the hypocrisy he perceives in how society reacts to race swaps. For example, he references the controversy over Black Panther, where critics loudly protested a white character being cast as Black Panther, yet many are silent or supportive when white characters are race-swapped in other contexts.
He concludes by encouraging society and fans to accept that characters, much like society itself, are evolving. His message is clear: as demographics and cultural norms change, so too will the portrayals of beloved characters. Resistance to these changes is rooted in ignorance and a fear of societal evolution.
