Despite intense pushback—from FBI investigations into activism, to legal threats, and district-level hostility—parents remain resilient. Izumi highlights examples where grassroots efforts have resulted in victories, such as flipping school board majorities and defeating pro-CRT candidates. The movement appears to be sustained by core values rooted in personal experience, love for children, and a desire to preserve American ideals.
Interestingly, many of these parents have backgrounds as immigrants from places where oppressive regimes are commonplace. They bring to the fight a personal aversion to authoritarian control and indoctrination, which fuels their activism.
