In an unexpected turn of events, Marvel executives only realized during the winter of 2023 that the film was not in a suitable state for release. This led to an enormous reshoot effort—almost effectively remaking much of the movie. The delays have been substantial, pushing the film's release back by over a year. Such setbacks are especially concerning given the current competitive landscape of superhero films, where delays can cause audiences to lose interest and momentum.
