Despite the failure, Disney executives have been reluctant to admit fault. Instead, they frame it as a bold, experimental effort that, although unsuccessful, provided valuable lessons. DeArmo claimed that the experience was "incredibly brave" of Disney to try such a novel concept, suggesting that even failure is part of the process of innovation.
Critics, however, see this as a deflection. The reality is that Disney simply did not deliver what fans wanted—an immersive Star Wars experience rooted in familiar, well-loved characters and settings. Giving fans more of what they loved, instead of something entirely new that might alienate core fans, could have mitigated disappointment and driven better engagement.
