Perhaps the most bizarre development was a public protest organized by industry insiders. Around noon at GDC, approximately 50 to 100 developers gathered in a public park to voice their frustrations through loud screaming and vociferous complaints. Organized by former Epic Games producer Carol Shaw and Fortnite festival designer Scott John Seagull, the protest was aimed at expressing outrage over the ongoing layoffs, industry upheaval, and the recent Gamergate 2.0 controversy involving Sweet Baby Inc..
