The "magical negro" trope has a long, problematic history in Hollywood, often reducing Black characters to mystical helpers for white heroes. Addressing this in satire can work if it pushes boundaries and deconstructs stereotypes. Yet, doing so requires outrageousness, cleverness, and a willingness to offend—none of which The American Society of Magical Negroes managed effectively. Instead, it felt like an earnest attempt to pander rather than challenge, diluting its message and alienating the very audience it sought to impress.
