Past Work and Limitations of Aspire Media
Aspire Media has previously been involved in reworking older titles, such as Jedi Knight 2, Jedi Academy, and The Old Republic games, primarily through small tweaks and updates rather than full remakes. While some of their efforts have been appreciated, they lack experience with large-scale, massively multiplayer online (MMO) infrastructure — a crucial factor in the community’s current woes.
The Battlefront collection was a new challenge for Aspire: attempting to modernize two beloved multiplayer-centric games with online elements. Sadly, they were unprepared for the technical demands, leading to a disaster of epic proportions. This failure highlights how fragile the current state of Star Wars gaming is.
