Jimmy Kimmel, a long-standing host, once known for comedy, has faced criticism for his unfunny monologues and awkward delivery. This year’s opening monologue, in particular, was met with widespread criticism for lacking humor and for veering into political territory.
During his segment, Kimmel couldn’t resist making it about himself and his political opinions, notably taking a shot at former President Donald Trump. Instead of focusing on celebrating cinema, Kimmel used the platform to mock Trump, referencing a social media post, and expressing contempt for the former president and his supporters. This blatant partisan display did little to unify the audience and instead highlighted a divisive atmosphere.
