Some argue that society's current approach to these provocative symbols—reacting with outrage or discomfort—only grants them more power. Instead of giving these themes attention, it may be more effective to cease reacting and simply let the culture respond to us. The idea posited is that if we refused to indulge in their bait, they would be forced to confront our values more directly. For example, if those in the cultural sphere were to openly celebrate Christian themes, such as singing "Jesus Loves Me" during prominent events, proponents believe this would cause a significant and perhaps even disruptive reaction among those promoting these darker symbols.
