Perhaps the most controversial aspect was the depiction of Kingpin. Previously a formidable villain in Netflix’s "Daredevil," Kingpin appears here as a defeated, almost comic relief character. In past iterations, Kingpin was a tough, ruthless crime lord; in "Echo," he is easily beaten by Maya, who even attempts to heal his childhood trauma—an oddly sentimental and unearned moment.
