One of the significant indicators of Disney’s struggles has been its box-office performance. Out of all the films released in 2023, only Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 managed to break even, grossing approximately $152 million domestically, on an investment of over $400 million. The rest of Disney’s film slate was riddled with massive losses, including titles like Wish, The Marvels, Dial of Destiny, The Little Mermaid, and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. These flops collectively represent a disastrous trend, with some movies losing upwards of $300 million.
