The question remains whether new jobs will emerge to replace those lost to AI. Historically, technological revolutions have sparked entirely new industries and roles. However, experts like Dr. Roman Yampolski, a leading AI safety researcher, warn that this time might be different. Yampolski predicts that within five years, the capacity to automate nearly all cognitive jobs will exist, even if it doesn’t occur immediately.
Yampolski explains that many jobs currently considered “BS jobs”—those that are unnecessary or redundant—may eventually disappear altogether. He cautions that once AI reaches human-level general intelligence, it will be capable of performing any task a human can, eroding the need for human labor altogether.
