Many fans and insiders believe the best course for Star Wars is to leap forward in time—possibly hundreds of years—and develop stories entirely unrelated to Rey, Finn, Poe, or any of the original characters. This approach would allow Disney and Lucasfilm to craft a new universe, free from the complications and baggage of the Skywalker legacy.
However, the studio seems reluctant to abandon the characters and stories that have already been established. Instead, they appear committed to weaving Ray back into the narrative, despite widespread disinterest or fatigue.
