A Region in Conflict Since 2014
Since 2014, the Donbas has been embroiled in a protracted conflict triggered by Moscow-backed separatist insurgencies. The region became a battleground where Ukrainian forces faced off against insurgents supported by Russia, leading to significant loss of life and territorial disputes.
