Part 4/9:
In recent months, Disney+ has shown alarming signs of subscriber decline. The company reported losing about 4 million subscribers in a previous quarter, followed by a further 2.4 million lost subscribers in a subsequent report. Over the last six months alone, Disney+ has shed more than 6 million customers—indicators of waning consumer interest and dissatisfaction.
Adding to Disney+'s woes, rival HBO Max—now simply called Max—has overtaken Disney+ in subscriber numbers and market share. Despite Warner Bros. facing its own internal issues, Max has emerged as a formidable competitor, capturing a larger slice of the streaming market with 15% share compared to Disney+’s diminished 13%. In the broader streaming landscape, Amazon Prime remains the leader with 21%, followed by Netflix at 20%.
