The current NATO requirement of a 2% GDP defense contribution is set to be replaced by a new target of 5%. The proposed distribution would allocate around 3.5% to traditional military hardware, personnel, and training, with the remaining 1.5% designated for "defense-related expenses." However, analysts argue that much of this additional funding is directed towards offensive operations and hybrid warfare strategies in Eastern Europe, rather than purely defensive needs.
