Part 2/8:
The latest evidence of Disney’s struggles is their 100th anniversary flagship release, "Wish." Intended to rekindle the magic and serve as a celebration of Disney’s storied history, "Wish" was positioned as a major holiday release. Expectations were high that it could turn the tide for Disney’s animated film division. Sadly, the results told a different story. The film’s opening was disappointing, with initial reports suggesting it grossed only around $33 million during the opening weekend—an anemic figure for a project with a reportedly $200 million production budget. Subsequent data revealed even lower numbers, with some estimates pegging the three-day weekend at $19.5 million and the five-day tally just reaching approximately $31.7 million.
