In the United States, the Federal Reserve is heavily engaged in developing a digital dollar. The "Digital Dollar Project" collaboration with Ireland-based consulting firm Accenture—linked to the World Economic Forum—is one of the key initiatives. Notably, the New York Federal Reserve and major U.S. banks, including Mastercard, are nearing the completion of a 12-week pilot launched in November 2022. This pilot aims to test various functions of a digital dollar, including payments, settlements, and security features.
