Part 2/10:
One of the most scrutinized aspects of Disney's recent performance has been its streaming division. Despite ambitious growth targets and hefty investments, Disney+ continues to hemorrhage subscribers. In the recent quarter, the platform lost nearly 300,000 domestic subscribers, contributing to an overall worldwide decline of over 11 million subscribers.
Much of this decline is attributed to the fallout from Disney's failed attempt to artificially inflate its subscriber numbers through international deals, notably the India cricket streaming partnership with Hotstar. This move was initially seen as a way to showcase rapid growth but ultimately backfired as viewers lost interest or revisited their subscriptions, revealing the program's fragility.
