One of the most concerning revelations was Disney+’s continuing subscriber decline. The streaming service, once touted as a pillar of Disney’s future, lost 300,000 domestic subscribers and a staggering 11.4 million worldwide during the recent quarter. This marks a significant drop, especially given the aggressive price hikes and content spending that Disney has undertaken recently.
While the company reported that streaming losses have decreased from about $1 billion last year to roughly $500 million this quarter, these figures represent a massive ongoing drain on Disney’s finances. The company’s total streaming losses, although slightly improved, still amount to half a billion dollars for just three months.
