Once the control of the district shifted, Florida took aggressive steps to dismantle the controversial policies associated with Disney's prior governance, particularly regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs. The new board overseeing the district announced the abolition of all DEI initiatives that had been previously implemented.
The district explicitly stated that it would end hiring and contracting programs that discriminated based on race, gender, or other identity factors, which had allegedly cost taxpayers millions of dollars. They also dissolved their DEI committee, terminated associated job duties, and prohibited staff from using resources for such initiatives.
