This phenomenon appears to be somewhat inherent to the nature of politics itself. Politicians have a vested interest in highlighting crises that ostensibly require their intervention, thereby justifying increased authority and control. However, this narrative has a particularly damaging impact on young men, who are often the target of such messaging. When young men are told that their problems are insurmountable and that only the government can solve them, their sense of agency diminishes. They are made to believe that their actions might be futile, leading to feelings of disillusionment and frustration.
