In what can only be described as a baffling writing choice, Gaia receives every superpower from every Marvel hero and villain in the universe—an all-encompassing power upgrade that appalled fans and critics alike.
This transformation turned Gaia into one of the most powerful characters in the MCU, boasting abilities ranging from Captain Marvel’s energy projection to Mantis’s empathic powers, and even some of the more obscure powers like those associated with the Obsidian Ma. The fan and critic consensus largely echoed feelings of disbelief and ridicule, as many viewed this as an unnecessary “cheat code” that undermined narrative stakes.
