When compared with previous adaptations—such as the 2003 Haunted Mansion which grossed $33 million in its opening—Haunted Mansion's debut appears dismal. Moreover, even Jungle Cruise, despite mixed reviews, managed a $35 million opening and performed about 50% better domestically during its debut.
Internationally, the results are even worse. Haunted Mansion brought in only around $9 million abroad, a catastrophic shortfall considering the global hopes for such a film.
