The impending closest approach to Earth on December 19th, 2025, offers one of the best opportunities to resolve these mysteries. Multiple observatories — including NASA’s Hubble and Webb telescopes, as well as ground-based observatories worldwide — are poised to monitor the object intensively.
Preliminary data from early observations have shown that most signatures are consistent with a natural asteroid or comet. However, skepticism persists among some researchers regarding these conclusions, largely fueled by the object’s strange behaviors and chemical constituents.
