In southern Thailand, residents in Hatyai are beginning to clean up after a week of intense rains left streets submerged and homes muddy. Some shop owners, facing ruined inventory, have resorted to selling damaged goods at deep discounts in an effort to help residents recover. A shopkeeper explained, "I need to clear the stock. Shoes soaked and ruined, clothes destroyed. People don’t have anything, so I’m selling everything cheap so they have something to wear."
