According to official reports, a lone gunman opened fire without warning, wielding a .357 Smith & Wesson revolver. The attacker, acting in an ambush style, immediately struck one guardsman, causing him to fall to the ground. The assailant then leaned over and struck the same guardsman again, further intensifying the violence. The second guardsman was also struck multiple times, sustaining serious injuries during the attack.
