Looking ahead, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 faces stiff competition. Big releases such as Fast & Furious 10 are expected to dominate theater screens, especially domestically. Additionally, The Little Mermaid is scheduled right after, promising to further erode box office figures for the MCU installment.
It's important to note that Guardians still has a significant opportunity to improve its total gross before theaters are flooded with new releases. Currently, the film has accumulated approximately $520 million worldwide, a substantial figure but still below its production and marketing costs, which are estimated around $250 million. To break even, the film needs to reach around $750 million globally.
