Originally, Charlie's Angels was a beloved action franchise featuring strong female leads, appreciated by both men and women. The reboot, however, chose to heavily emphasize a message of feminism and identity politics. This shift in focus alienated many viewers who felt the marketing was more about promoting a feminist manifesto than delivering a straightforward action film.
The film's box office performance reflected this disconnect. With a production budget around $50 million, Charlie's Angels only managed to gross approximately $73 million worldwide—nearly $50 million less after accounting for marketing costs and other expenses. Such a result marked a significant financial failure, under the worst expectations for a low-budget action flick.
