In the end, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power appears to be a misfire—a costly, underwhelming attempt at expanding Tolkien’s universe that has largely alienated the core fanbase and failed to forge a meaningful cultural footprint. Despite billions spent, the series exemplifies how large budgets and strategic marketing can’t salvage poor storytelling, amateurish production, and disrespect for beloved source material.
As the show continues to face dwindling viewership and increasing criticism, it remains to be seen whether Amazon will address these issues or simply continue the pattern of behind-the-scenes manipulation and superficial marketing to sustain what little audience remains.
