The Admission of Disinterest and Frustration at D23
This tension came to a head during her appearance at D23 Expo, where Marvel showcased "The Marvels," a sequel featuring Captain Marvel alongside other female heroes. During a segment, a reporter asked Larson, "How long will you play Captain Marvel for?" Her response was revealing:
"I don't know. Does anyone want me to do it again?"
The tone was dismissive, almost bitter. When prompted to be less modest, she replied with similar uncertainty. Her attitude seemed to reflect her awareness of the declining interest—perhaps even her own frustration—that fans might not want her playing the character anymore.
