On Metacritic, Ghost of Tsushima currently holds an 83 critic score, indicating generally favorable reviews. However, the user reviews have yet to be fully aggregated; a marked change from the experience with The Last of Us Part II, which was heavily review-bombed immediately upon release. That game saw nearly 3,000 zero-star reviews paired with thousands of perfect tens—evidence of the polarizing nature of its narrative and development behind-the-scenes.
In response to this, Sony and other industry stakeholders introduced new policies to curb early review bombings. Starting July 19th, players are encouraged to spend more time with the game before submitting reviews, supposedly leading to more balanced and fair assessments.
