While she appreciated the positive messages from many fans, she also revealed that she was subjected to a small but intense barrage of hate, including threats of violence, death threats, and vile insults. Ryan recounted some of these messages, which ranged from:
Threats of physical violence ("I will find you and slaughter you for what you did to Joel")
Personal insults ("Go F yourself," "you ruined it")
Aggressive language towards her and her family ("I will kill your kid")
Derogatory comments about her character portrayal and her as a person
