Why Such a Reset Seems Unlikely
Given Disney’s history, why does a complete retcon seem improbable? A few reasons:
Cost and effort: Retrofitting or rewriting a complex franchise like Star Wars is a massive undertaking, both creatively and financially.
Investment in current canon: Disney has already heavily invested in the sequel characters and storylines. Resetting them would mean losing that investment.
Fan reception: While many fans dislike the sequels, a wholesale erasure might cause backlash rather than benefit.
