The much-anticipated Xbox Series X gameplay showcase was pivotal. Fans expected a hefty dose of actual gameplay footage—shots of in-engine gameplay showing what the next gen would truly offer. Instead, what was delivered was a barrage of cinematic trailers, further fueling disappointment.
The opening with Bright Memory Infinite initially raised hopes, suggesting a promising glimpse of in-game action. A spokesperson even promised that the footage would showcase actual gameplay captured in-engine, heightening expectations. However, as the showcase progressed and viewers waited for the promised gameplay, the reality proved otherwise. Most of what was shown consisted of cinematic cutscenes, not gameplay footage, contradicting assurances given beforehand.
