For instance, excerpts from the expanded universe—particularly Alphabet Squadron—reframe Luke's efforts during A New Hope, reducing his heroism to minor contributions compared to newer characters. One excerpt claims that Jyn Erso, the protagonist of Rogue One, "began because if they didn't the rest of the story would be meaningless," and that her act of destruction "did everything that mattered," effectively downplaying Luke's central role.
