For the global community, this underscores the importance of vigilance and preparedness. Countries in the region and Western allies should not become complacent, as China’s internal struggles may slow some projects but are unlikely to halt all progress.
And on a more personal note—perhaps think twice before purchasing Made in China Christmas presents this year. Supporting Chinese military-industrial complex inadvertently counters the peace efforts that any internal stability might eventually foster.
