One of the more baffling elements is the show’s treatment of inclusivity and diversity, especially in the character of Alice, a deaf woman portrayed with blatant and problematic inaccuracies. This wasn’t a case of respectful representation but of virtue signaling gone wrong — casting an actress with soap opera experience and then saddling her with a script that intentionally handicaps her communication abilities without proper context or in-universe explanation.
