There are numerous dead-end plotlines—diamonds that are never referenced again, a character who is only there to be there, and a villain who is a superficial sorceress from the Nether with no motivation other than being disliked for once dancing in a single scene. The film’s "story" is, at best, a loose collage of random scenes stitched together without regard for coherence.
