One of the most significant issues with Disney's live-action The Lion King is its overreliance on achieving photo-realistic animals and environments. While this aim showcases technological prowess, it inadvertently strips away the expressive freedom that animation provides. Animated characters, especially in The Lion King, were crafted with exaggerated facial expressions and stylized movements that conveyed a rich spectrum of emotions—fear, joy, anger, sorrow—that directly fostered viewer empathy.
