The film's attempt at emotional impact also falls flat. The reveal of Rey’s mysterious parentage, which is built up as a major mystery, is discarded in an anticlimactic fashion, depriving audiences of emotional resonance. Similarly, Luke’s Force projection death, which could have been a powerful culmination, is mishandled, leaving viewers indifferent.
Without these failures having genuine stakes or earning their emotional moments, The Last Jedi misses the opportunity to create impactful storytelling about resilience and growth. Its failure to deliver meaningful consequences diminishes its emotional and narrative weight.
