The visual effects are impressive technically but lack depth. The CGI looks good, but it’s surface-level spectacle, lacking the soul that the A New Hope scene possessed. The music feels generic and uninspired, lacking the iconic moments that elevate the original. The atmosphere is more about creating a "bigger" scene than creating a meaningful narrative or emotional core.
Character and Emotional Development
In the original scene, Luke's faith in the Force is the emotional crux. It signifies growth and trust in something intangible but powerful. In contrast, The Force Awakens’ attack on Star Killer Base is just another action sequence for Poe and Finn, with no real character development tied to the event.
