At its core, The Acolyte seems to suffer from fundamental misunderstandings of Star Wars lore and storytelling principles. The writers appear to lack a coherent grasp of the Force, Jedi philosophy, or character motivations. This is particularly evident in how the series depicts the Jedi—not as noble guardians, but seemingly as antagonistic or morally ambiguous figures. The depiction of Jedi as merely violent or manipulative agents, rather than protectors and moral exemplars, alienates longstanding fans.
Moreover, the portrayal of characters like May and OSHA is superficial at best. Their motivations are either underdeveloped or inconsistently presented, leaving them as mere plot devices rather than fleshed-out individuals.
