Taking all these issues into account, critics argue that The Acolyte not only fails but perhaps should have never been made in its current form. Scenes that seem pointless, characters that act inconsistently, and narrative arcs that go nowhere all point to a production rife with incompetence.
Some critics even go so far as to say that the entire series should be scrapped and rebooted from scratch—if at all. The frustration is palpable, born from witnessing talented actors and creators sidelined in favor of perhaps more politically motivated or ideologically driven decisions.
