In response, Japan launched an extensive resilience-building campaign. With a budget of approximately $1.2 billion, the government invested heavily in stockpiling reserves, boosting recycling efforts, and developing new technologies to reduce reliance on rare earths. Importantly, Japan sought to diversify its supply sources, investing over $600 million in more than 100 projects across 15 countries, including Mongolia, Australia, Kazakhstan, Namibia, and Malaysia.
