Part 11/14:
Simultaneously, Singapore invested heavily in expanding its mass transit systems. The MRT network now spans 240 kilometers with over 160 stations, serving more than 3 million rides daily. The city state also promotes cycling, with over 730 kilometers of dedicated bike paths, and has adopted decentralization policies, developing multiple regional business hubs to disperse economic activity beyond the city center.
These measures are complemented by urban design efforts to make the city walkable and bike-friendly, reducing the reliance on private vehicles. The government’s focus is on creating a sustainable, inclusive mobility system that adapts to an aging population and increasing urbanization.
