Part 7/12:
Gil Younger, who directed the original film, has confirmed that a follow-up titled 10 Things I Hate About Dating is in development, co-written with Nia L. James. Although it hasn't been officially greenlit, Younger insists it is "definitively in the works," planning a trilogy with subsequent installments focused on marriage and parenting.
The new films aim to update the story for an audience in their 30s, shifting from the teenage crowd of the original. They will also incorporate inspiration from Molière’s The Misanthrope, suggesting a more refined, possibly darker focus—yet critics question whether these themes can be explored convincingly without the playful charm of the original.
