Part 2/12:
The chosen theme for this year's Met Gala was “Superfine Tailoring & Black Style,” focusing on the role of sartorial fashion in shaping Black identity, especially through the concept of the Black dandy. Inspired by Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandeeism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, the theme aimed to delve into the emergence and significance of a Black gentleman’s aesthetic—characterized by ostentatious elegance and elaborate attire.
