Scott Jennings, often portrayed humorously as CNN's "American hero," has held the number one spot in CNN's 25-54 demo, outpacing Cooper and others. Jennings’s appeal lies in his role as the network’s attacking figure against "woke" culture, a gimmick that has garnered him a loyal, if niche, following.
Interestingly, Jennings was being courted by CBS, a mainstream network with an ostensibly larger audience. But he chose to remain at CNN, understanding the value of his current "gimmick." Joining CBS would risk diluting his "heroic" persona by placing him amongst a sea of conservative faces. The allure of CNN's constant supply of antagonists—referred to colloquially as "heels"—appears to be part of his strategic reasoning.
