Emotions and Restrictions
Throughout the dialogue, there is an evident clash between affection and the restrictions imposed by the prison environment. Phrases like “don’t cry,” and the desire to physically comfort—“I feel like hugging her, kissing”—highlight the emotional toll of confinement. Yet, these feelings are curtailed by protocols, evident in the line “because it’s the prison’s protocol,” which prevents them from embracing or touching freely.
